It's been a long and exciting journey from a clothes rack in a garage in Bremen (1998) to our international online shop for truly unique designers and their designs.

Growing up in the world of art and fashion, I founded the online shop "select mode online" in 2014. Originally an extension of my mother's boutique, it quickly became clear that there are people all over the world with good taste and a shared passion for the "color" black, who are happy to be able to shop with us from the comfort of their own homes.

In 2025 (after 27 years), my mother, Vroni Hertel, retired from the operational business. Now she can and wants to concentrate fully on fashion, art, and her cats again. However, she will continue to support us at trade fairs and as a kind soul with advice and her expertise. At the same time, my husband Kilian, who was previously responsible for the artistic content in words and images, joined the company full-time. He now also supports me and the team with technical matters and everything else, except purchasing goods ;)

Boutique at heart, we are passionate online shoppers ourselves and have placed particular emphasis on precise product descriptions, numerous, informative images, information on RAL colors, and precise measurements for each individual item since the beginning. We want to operate a shop for our customers where we would enjoy shopping ourselves and which provides all the information we often miss when shopping.

But despite all the advantages of online shopping: Our fashion is art, it is communication. Ergo: Fashion connects people. That's why service is paramount. Wondering why our English texts are neither British nor American? Our translator is Australian. At home in WA, he makes sure our international customers can understand product descriptions and brand texts and also enjoy reading them. By the way, he really is a firefighter!!!
